The most used metal for signage is aluminum. There are other options like stainless steel, bronze, plate steel, and brass. There are also the lesser used but highly functional materials like Dibond and Alumalite.
Metal signs are made from a variety of different metals. They are typically made from aluminum, stainless steel, or bronze.
You need to use a CNC machine that has fiber lasers that are programmed to cut the shape of the sign. Then you punch holes in the back so the sign can be attached to a post. After that, you hand trim the edges, so they aren’t sharp anymore. Next, you place a decal on it, put it through a laminator, and trim the excess decal off.
Holes are punched through the back of the sign so that you can attach a bracket to it by sticking a bolt through the holes and locking it in place with a washer and nut. Then you wrap the bracket around a pole and lock that in place with another washer and nut. Make sure everything is tight.
There are different thicknesses used in metal signs, but usually between 11- and 16-gauge carbon steel. This will make it between an ⅛ and 3/16 of an inch thick.
You have to use mounting studs. Figure out where you want to put the metal letters, screw the studs into the letters and measure out the pattern so you know where to drill holes in the wall. Put the studs in the holes and fill the rest in with adhesive.
It depends on what type of sign it is. You could use mounting studs, or you could simply hang it like a banner, with rope if it’s a wooden fence. If it’s a chain link fence, use a fence mounting bracket.
Aluminum signs are signs made of aluminum and they are the most common type of metal sign you will see. You can see them everywhere: stop signs, parking signs, handicap signs. Next time you’re out in public and you see a metal sign, there’s a good chance it’s aluminum.
We have all the standard metal signs you would expect to see at a sign shop and make them from any metal of your choice. We can also make specialty signs, so don’t hesitate to contact us.
